Candidate-first recruitment

Recruitment that looks beyond the vacancy.

You may apply for one role, but your experience can fit many more. Fulchester combines recruiter judgement, intelligent matching and broader-fit thinking to help you see where your experience could fit next.

One application. A wider view.We consider the role you applied for and keep other relevant opportunities in view.
A broader view of fit

A great candidate can still be wrong for one vacancy.

Most recruitment processes evaluate you against a single brief. Fulchester starts there too—but we do not assume that one decision tells the whole story. Where another opportunity looks like a good fit, we make you aware of it and offer the chance to discuss it further.

01

One role is not your whole career.

An application shows what interested you today. It does not define the full range of roles you could succeed in.

02

Fit goes beyond a CV.

Direction, seniority, geography, compensation, working style and motivation all shape whether an opportunity makes sense.

03

Relevant options stay visible.

Where we see a good fit with another live opportunity, we make you aware of it so you can decide whether it is worth a conversation.

How it works

A more thoughtful recruitment journey.

Every application starts with the role you chose. From there, we can consider the wider fit across relevant opportunities while keeping your preferences and choices at the centre of the process.

01 Apply

Start with a live role

Apply to a current Fulchester opportunity on LinkedIn.

02 Consider

Assess the specific fit

We consider your experience against the brief you applied for.

03 Broaden

Keep relevant roles in view

We look across other relevant Fulchester opportunities and, where appropriate, wider possibilities.

04 Understand

Know what matters to you

Your direction, preferences and practical requirements help shape what is worth discussing.

05 Decide

You choose what to explore

Where something looks relevant, you decide whether you want to take the conversation further.

Human judgement, better informed

Technology broadens the search. People make the decisions.

Fulchester uses modern matching tools to help recruiters organise context, compare stated preferences and identify possible fit across a wider opportunity landscape. Technology supports judgement; it does not replace the candidate conversation.

  • More context than a keyword match.
  • Candidate preferences stay part of the decision.
  • Significant recruitment decisions retain appropriate human review and safeguards.
The candidate promise

If the first role is not right, the wider fit can still be useful.

Where another relevant opportunity appears well aligned, we make you aware of it and offer the chance to discuss it. You decide whether you want to explore it further.

For employers

Better hiring starts with better candidate understanding.

Fulchester combines recruiter judgement with deeper context around experience, motivation and practical fit. The aim is a more useful introduction for both sides—not simply a larger volume of CVs.

Role fit

Why a rejection is not a verdict on your value.

A vacancy is a specification. Fit can fail on timing, scope or context even when the candidate is strong.

Career decisions

Responsibility, decision rights, trajectory and operating environment can matter more than a label.

CVs

For candidates

Your career is bigger than one application.

Fulchester considers every application against the role you applied for. We also keep the wider fit in view, so where another relevant opportunity appears well aligned, we can make you aware of it and offer the chance to discuss further.

A different ending

Being wrong for one role does not make you the wrong candidate.

Recruitment is usually vacancy-led. Fulchester starts with the role you applied for, then keeps other relevant opportunities in view rather than treating one decision as the end of the story.

What we consider

Fit is multidimensional.

A role can look right on paper and still be wrong in practice. We use the factors that matter to the real decision—not only the job title.

Career directionWhere you want to go next.
Seniority & scopeThe level and responsibility that fit.
Industry contextDirect and adjacent experience.
Transferable strengthsWhere your capabilities travel well.
LocationWhere you can and want to work.
Working modelOn-site, hybrid and remote preferences.
CompensationThe level that makes a move viable.
Leadership environmentThe kind of organisation you work best in.

When the original role is not right

Sometimes the better opportunity is elsewhere.

We try to make candidates aware of other relevant live Fulchester opportunities where there appears to be a good fit. Where broader opportunity discovery is appropriate, we may also discuss publicly advertised roles outside Fulchester's existing mandates.

The aim is not to send you more jobs. It is to focus attention on opportunities that make sense against your experience and stated requirements.

Your information

You stay in control.

Finding a possible match is not the same as introducing you to an employer.

No automatic CV forwarding

We do not send your CV to another employer simply because we identified a possible match.

You choose what to explore

You can decline an opportunity or conversation that does not fit what you want.

Permission before introduction

Before an identifiable introduction for a broader opportunity, we confirm that you want to proceed.

Candidate promise

No fee for finding you work.

Fulchester does not charge candidates for finding or trying to find them employment. Any separate service would be optional, separately agreed and would not be a condition of receiving our recruitment service.

Questions

Candidate FAQ

Will Fulchester consider me for other opportunities?

Yes, where we see a good fit with another relevant opportunity we can make you aware of it and offer the chance to discuss it further. You decide whether you want to explore it.

What happens if I am unsuccessful for the job I applied for?

A decision on one role does not automatically end the wider conversation. We may identify another current Fulchester role that appears more relevant, and broader matching can also form part of the service where appropriate.

Will my CV be shared with other employers?

Not automatically. We can discuss a possible match without making an identifiable introduction. Before we submit you for a broader opportunity, we confirm you want to proceed and handle the introduction as part of an appropriate recruitment relationship.

Can I decline another opportunity?

Yes. A suggested opportunity is an option, not an obligation.

Do candidates pay Fulchester?

No. Fulchester does not charge candidates for finding or trying to find them employment.

How is technology used in matching?

Technology can help organise candidate information, compare preferences and role requirements and surface possible matches for review. It supports recruiter judgement and candidate choice rather than replacing them.

Can I ask Fulchester to stop considering me for additional opportunities?

Yes. Tell us at any time. We may still need to retain certain recruitment records for legal or regulatory reasons, but we can stop broader opportunity communications.

How it works

One application. A more thoughtful process.

The public journey begins with the Fulchester role you applied for on LinkedIn. From there, we consider that brief properly while keeping other relevant opportunities in view.

Apply to a Fulchester role on LinkedIn

All public Fulchester opportunities are shown through LinkedIn. We begin by considering you against the role you chose to apply for.

We assess the fit for that specific role

We consider your experience and suitability against the actual brief. Broader matching does not replace this assessment.

We keep other relevant Fulchester opportunities in view

Where another live role appears well aligned, we can make you aware of it and offer the chance to discuss it further.

We understand what a good next move looks like

Role, seniority, industry, location, compensation, working model, experience, direction and other stated preferences help form the candidate brief.

Broader opportunities can also come into view

Where appropriate, Fulchester can identify publicly advertised roles that appear relevant to the candidate brief. These are clearly distinguished from roles where Fulchester already acts for the employer.

Fulchester recruitment opportunityA role where Fulchester already has the appropriate relationship with the employer.
External opportunityA publicly advertised role identified because it appears relevant. Fulchester may not currently represent that employer.

You decide what to explore

If an external opportunity looks interesting, you can ask us to explore it. Expressing interest does not automatically authorise us to disclose your identity or CV.

A formal introduction happens only at the right point

Where you want to proceed and Fulchester has established the appropriate employer relationship and role information, we can reconfirm your interest and make the formal introduction.

The principle

You stay in control of your career decisions throughout.

Candidate interest and employer authority are separate. Fulchester does not present an externally discovered vacancy as a Fulchester recruitment mandate before the appropriate employer relationship exists.

Next step

Start with the role that interests you.

Fulchester publishes current public opportunities on LinkedIn. Apply there, and we will consider the role you chose while keeping the wider fit in view.

For employers

Better hiring starts with better candidate understanding.

Fulchester combines recruiter judgement, candidate context and technology-assisted matching to create more relevant introductions for professional and leadership roles.

Why Fulchester

Context before volume.

An introduction should make sense to the candidate and the employer. We focus on the factors that determine whether a conversation is worth having.

01

Deeper context

Experience, direction and practical preferences matter alongside the CV.

02

Candidate interest

We establish whether a candidate actually wants to explore the opportunity before formal introduction.

03

Recruiter judgement

Technology supports professional judgement rather than substituting for it.

04

Practical fit

Scope, geography, compensation and working model are considered early.

About Fulchester

A more considered approach to recruitment.

Recruitment has become extremely good at generating applications. It has not necessarily become equally good at recognising where people fit best.

Professional overlooking the London skyline at sunset
Why Fulchester exists

Being wrong for one vacancy should not define a candidate.

Every recruitment process needs to answer a specific hiring requirement. But a candidate who narrowly misses one brief may be exactly right for a different role, organisation or environment.

Fulchester is built to preserve that possibility without turning recruitment into indiscriminate CV distribution. We start with the role a candidate applied for, keep the broader fit in view and leave the candidate in control of what they want to explore.

Candidate-first by design

People, potential and preference.

Candidate-first does not mean ignoring the employer brief. It means recognising that the individual has requirements too—and that better recruitment accounts for both sides.

People

Understand the person behind the application.

Potential

Look for credible fit beyond the obvious keyword match.

Preference

Respect what the candidate actually wants from the next move.

Our principles

Modern in capability. Human in judgement.

These principles guide the experience we want candidates and employers to have with Fulchester.

01

Relevance

More is not better. Better fit is better.

02

Individuality

Career decisions are personal, even when the process is scalable.

03

Transparency

We distinguish our recruitment mandates from externally discovered opportunities.

04

Fairness

Matching should be based on legitimate, role-relevant criteria.

Technology + judgement

Better tools should make recruitment more considered—not less human.

Matching technology helps organise information and surface possibilities. Recruiter judgement, candidate choice and appropriate safeguards remain central to consequential decisions.

Career insights

Practical thinking for better career decisions.

Short, useful guidance on senior job search, role fit, career change and the way modern recruitment works.

Role fit

Why strong candidates still miss out on good roles

A recruitment decision is about fit against a particular requirement at a particular time. Two capable candidates can both be strong while only one aligns most closely with the role's scope, sector context, location, compensation, timing or leadership environment. Treat the outcome as information about that vacancy—not as a complete judgement on your market value.

The useful question after a rejection is not only “what did I lack?” but also “what kind of brief would make my experience unusually relevant?” That is the question broader-fit recruitment tries to answer.

Career decisions

How to evaluate a senior career move beyond the job title

Titles vary enormously between organisations. A Vice President role in one company may carry less decision authority than a Director role elsewhere. Compare the real operating scope: team size, budget, P&L responsibility, reporting line, strategic influence, growth mandate and the problems you are expected to solve.

A good move should make sense against the direction you want your career to take, not just the label on the job description.

CVs

What a senior recruiter needs to understand quickly

Make context obvious. Show the scale of the environment, the problem you inherited, what you changed and the result. Revenue, headcount, geography, budget, growth, turnaround, transformation or operating complexity can all help a recruiter understand what your title actually meant.

Clarity usually beats keyword density. The reader should be able to see your level, commercial impact and transferable strengths without having to infer them.

Career change

When leadership experience can transfer between industries

Sector experience matters most where the role depends on specialist regulation, technical knowledge, licensing or market relationships that cannot be learned quickly. In other roles, the more important comparison may be operating model, customer type, sales cycle, complexity, team structure or transformation challenge.

When considering an adjacent industry, explain the operating similarities and the outcomes you have delivered—not only why you want a change.

Technology & recruitment

Where matching technology helps—and where human judgement still matters

Technology is useful for organising large amounts of candidate and role information, comparing stated preferences and surfacing patterns a recruiter might otherwise miss. It is less useful when treated as a substitute for context.

Good matching should make the recruiter better informed while keeping the candidate's goals, human review and fair decision-making in the process.

Role fit

Why strong candidates still miss out on good roles

A recruitment decision answers a specific hiring question. It is not a complete judgement on a candidate’s value.

Fit is specific, not universal

A role exists inside a particular organisation, team and moment in time. Employers are comparing candidates against the immediate shape of that requirement—not against a universal definition of talent.

That means a strong candidate can miss out because the role needs a different operating scale, sector context, location, working pattern, compensation level, leadership style or start date. None of those automatically make the candidate weak; they describe the brief.

Read the decision for signal

After an unsuccessful process, separate the parts you can learn from from the parts that simply reflect context. If the gap was experience, ask whether it is a capability you genuinely want to build. If it was scope, geography, timing or compensation, refine the roles you target rather than rewriting your professional identity around one outcome.

A useful question is: what kind of brief would make my experience unusually relevant? That usually produces a better search strategy than asking how to become acceptable to every employer.

Keep good recruitment relationships open

If the recruiter understood your background and the process was constructive, the relationship can still have value after a no. Another brief may align better with your experience, preferences and timing.

Fulchester’s broader-fit approach is designed around that reality: consider the role applied for properly, then keep relevant alternatives visible where there appears to be a credible fit.

The practical takeaway

Use each recruitment outcome to refine the kind of brief you are targeting. One rejection is evidence about one fit decision—not a verdict on your wider market value.

How to evaluate a senior career move beyond the job title

Senior titles are inconsistent. Scope, authority, trajectory and operating environment usually tell you far more about the move.

Compare the real scope

Look at the size of the team, budget or P&L, reporting line, decision rights, geographic reach, customer or market responsibility and the complexity of the problems you are expected to solve.

A Director role with genuine enterprise-wide authority can be a larger move than a Vice President title with a narrower remit. The label is useful context, but it should not be the decision.

Understand the mandate

Ask why the role exists. Growth, turnaround, transformation, integration, succession and steady-state leadership demand different strengths. A role that fits your past experience may still be wrong if the mandate points away from the work you want to do next.

Also test whether the organisation is giving the role enough authority, resources and executive sponsorship to deliver what the job description promises.

Judge the trajectory

A good next move should strengthen the story you want your career to tell. Consider what you will own, learn and become known for, and whether the environment gives you room to create evidence of that value.

Compensation matters, but so do future optionality, market relevance, leadership exposure and the quality of the problems you will be trusted to solve.

The practical takeaway

Compare what you will actually own, influence and learn. The strongest career move is the one whose real scope supports the direction you want to build.

What a senior recruiter needs to understand quickly

At senior level, clarity of context and impact usually matters more than adding more keywords.

Make your level obvious

A recruiter should be able to understand your operating level quickly. Give enough context to show scale: revenue, headcount, budget, geography, customer segment, reporting line, team size or transformation complexity where those facts are relevant.

Job titles alone are unreliable because organisations use them differently. Context tells the reader what the title actually meant.

Show the problem, action and result

Strong senior CVs make outcomes easy to attribute. Explain the situation you inherited, the change you led and the result. This helps distinguish genuine leadership impact from a list of responsibilities.

Use numbers when they make the scale clearer, but do not force metrics into every line. Commercial or operational meaning is more important than decorative percentages.

Pass the ten-second test

The top of the CV should make your current level, core domain, strongest evidence and likely next-step relevance understandable without detective work.

Once that foundation is clear, detail can support the story. If the reader has to infer the scale, market or impact of every role, the CV is making the recruitment process harder than it needs to be.

The practical takeaway

Make level, scale, context and outcomes easy to understand. A recruiter should not need to decode what your experience means.

When leadership experience can transfer between industries

The useful comparison is often not industry label versus industry label, but whether the underlying operating challenge is similar.

Separate hard constraints from familiar preferences

Some roles genuinely require sector-specific licensing, regulation, technical expertise, security clearance or relationships that take years to build. Those constraints should be treated seriously.

Other requirements are more flexible. An employer may value experience with a similar customer type, sales cycle, operating model, transformation problem, multi-site environment or level of organisational complexity even if the industry name changes.

Build the adjacency case

When moving sectors, explain the similarities explicitly. Show what is structurally familiar about the new environment and which outcomes you have already delivered in comparable conditions.

This is stronger than simply saying your skills are transferable. The recruiter or employer should be able to see why the transfer is credible.

Be precise about the learning gap

Credible career changers do not pretend there is nothing new to learn. Identify what will be unfamiliar, how material it is to the role and why your existing experience gives you a realistic path to closing the gap.

That combination—relevant operating evidence plus an honest view of the learning curve—usually creates a more useful conversation.

The practical takeaway

Build the transfer case around operating similarities and evidence, while being explicit about the genuinely new learning the move requires.

Technology & recruitment

Where matching technology helps—and where human judgement still matters

Technology is useful when it increases the amount of relevant context a recruiter can consider. It is less useful when it turns that context into a false certainty.

What technology does well

Matching tools can organise large volumes of candidate and role information, compare stated preferences, identify patterns and surface potentially relevant alternatives that might otherwise be missed.

That is particularly useful when a recruiter is trying to look beyond one vacancy and understand where else a candidate’s experience could fit.

Where judgement remains essential

A career move involves motivation, trade-offs, organisational context and human interpretation. Two roles can look similar in structured data while offering very different realities for the candidate.

Recruiter judgement and candidate conversation are therefore important for testing whether a suggested match actually makes sense rather than merely scoring well.

Better matching starts with better preferences

Candidates can improve relevance by being explicit about what matters: role scope, seniority, location, compensation, working model, industries, adjacent sectors, travel, leadership environment and the kinds of problems they want to solve.

The aim is not to automate the career decision. It is to use technology to make the human decision better informed.

The practical takeaway

Use technology to widen the relevant search and organise context, then use recruiter judgement and candidate choice to decide what is worth pursuing.
